Sexten und Gsies
A milestone for flying sports: Hike & Fly has been officially recognized as a sport! To mark this occasion, the very first official Italian Hike & Fly Championship will take place from September 23 to 26, 2026, against the breathtaking backdrop of the Sextner Dolomites and the Gsieser Valley.
Hike & Fly combines mountaineering and paragliding in its purest form: Athletes cover predetermined routes on foot and in the air. During the championship, participants must reach various waypoints (turnpoints) on foot and then fly to them with pinpoint accuracy by paraglider.
The Italian Championship features four exciting challenges (Out & Back Tasks) spread over four competition days, which will be optimally adjusted depending on weather conditions:
September 23 – Sexten: Task 1 (Start & Finish in the area of the Sexten sports facilities / landing field)
September 24 – Gsies: Task 2
September 25 – Gsies: Task 3
September 26 – Sexten: Task 4 (Final competition day with the finish at the landing field in Sexten)
On Saturday, September 26, the awards ceremony will take place in the late afternoon at the Sexten sports facilities. This will be followed by a big closing party for athletes, volunteers, fans, and visitors.
